We live in challenging times and a big challenge for parents is to raise their children in this century, in these ever-changing times. Parents are always on the lookout for support in this wonderful world of parenting. Parents really want to the right thing by their children. As parents, they really want to be good parents, even great parents. This program is about becoming great parents. It will give parents a way of picturing what a great parent might look like, allowing them to tap into their own experiences and desires to be just that. To be a great parent, we need to put on the face of a parent. This face is a multifaceted one, displaying separate images depending on how you look at it and yet a totally interconnected face were all the images become one. Each human face is made up of the same elements (cheeks, mouth, nose, ears, eyes etc) and yet when they come together they do so in a unique manner making a face, which is distinctively, belonging to that person alone. It is the same with parenting. Each parent face will have the same facets that will come together in a unique parenting style. While the human face is made up of cheeks, mouth, nose, eyes, ears, the parenting face is made up of special performance roles and, when these performance roles come together they will form the face of great parenting. These performance roles are: -- wise leader, astute manager, caring nurturer, coaching teacher, careful monitor. Let's now take a snapshot of each of these performance roles to give you more of a whole picture of what they are. Performance Roles: -- The parenting face is not a single one of these (as the human face is not a single one of its attributes) but the blend of each performance role, with each role contributing with their own special blend of colour and magic. The Five Faces of Parenting program is structured so that parents can, working in a group, discover new ways of being and doing, enhancing the enjoyment of creating and developing a wholesome family. This is a very practical program which uses the power of the group, the DVDs and written material provided. Real-life stories and scenarios, exciting processes and conversations and modes of interacting together are also an essential component of the program. Using the power of the group technique, parents will be able to engage in positive self-help and, not only receive and gain new tactics, but also be able to share their wisdom for the benefit of others. This program, The Five Faces of Parenting, is very different from any previous parenting program that people would have done before. If parents come to this program wanting to make a difference, then they will be enabled to do so. They will experience new ways of looking at their children, their family, and their parenting role within the family. |
