About the Authors

MARGARET CARTER EdD., MEdSt., BEdSt., DipEd

Margaret works in private practice as a behaviour change specialist, based in Brisbane Australia. She works with families, children service staff, kindergartens, care and education systems, government departments, community organizations, mental health practitioners and therapists. Margaret’s work is always contemporary and relevant, designed in response to needs, circumstances and specific situations.

Margaret is a qualified teacher and has worked as a preschool teacher –in-charge, special education consultant and guidance counsellor. She works as a consultant, mentor, teacher, social coach, program designer, facilitator, presenter and mediator. Margaret’s main areas of operation include: early years; child social behaviour; conflict resolution; emotion fitness; inclusion; childhood grief and loss; adult self- care and parenting.

Margaret is highly respected within the field of education, childhood behaviour, parenting and early childhood. Margaret is an esteemed professional practitioner, committed to the provision of quality teaching and learning for children and adults. She is a passionate advocate of inclusion and inclusive education.

Margaret is the author of seven books. She has co-authored two social understanding curriculum texts for children 3 – 10 years of age. Margaret is the co-author of The Five Faces of Parenting program, a dynamic and unique program designed to make a positive difference in the lives of families.


John and Margaret

JOHN McARDLE MEd (Sp)., GradDip RT., C.RT., RET

John is a senior consultant in professional development. He develops custom made professional development for individuals, groups, organizations with a particular focus on behaviour change. His work is always practical and modern, translating current theory and ideas into real life practice.

John is a qualified teacher and has worked in education as a teacher, special education consultant, school principal, guidance counsellor, supervisor of schools and professional development consultant.

John is a highly respected author and presenter and consultant. He is the author of the PEOMO series of maths and spelling; the Mindfields series of administration, behaviour and value-added consultancy. He develops administrators, is involved in mentoring and coaching, develops whole school programs in behaviour, and trains consultant in the art and science of consultancy. John is sought after by organizations and groups as a professional trainer, mentor and coach.

John specializes in programs for parents. He has been involved on major parent programs over the last 25 years and is the co-author of the Five Faces of Parenting program.
